Two terrorists killed in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua; four soldiers injured in Kishtwar, encounter continues

Srinagar:

Security forces killed two terrorists during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua, while four soldiers were injured in another encounter in Kishtwar. Security forces said this in a post on X today. The firing started in Chatroo of Kishtwar after security forces launched an operation in the area. The White Knight Corps said that four soldiers were injured in the fierce firing. The encounter is still going on.

Sources said the terrorists involved in the encounter in Kishtwar were involved in another encounter that took place earlier in Doda in July. Four jawans, including an officer, were killed in that operation.

In an operation conducted in Kathua, soldiers of the Rising Star Corps killed two terrorists.

The encounters took place a few days ahead of polling on September 18 in eight assembly constituencies spread across Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts in the Chenab Valley region and 16 seats in Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam districts in south Kashmir.

Jammu, Kathua and Samba districts will go to polls in the second and third phases on September 25 and October 1, respectively.
