Tirupati Laddu controversy: Hearing on petitions of Subramanian Swamy and YV Subba Reddy in Supreme Court on Monday.

New Delhi :

The Supreme Court will hear the Tirupati Laddu controversy case on Monday. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy and former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) chairman and YSR Congress Party Rajya Sabha MP YV Subba Reddy have filed the petitions. The bench of Justice BR Gavai and Justice KV Vishwanathan will hear these petitions. There has been a political uproar for almost a week over the alleged use of animal fat in making Tirupati laddus. The war of words between Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy on this issue is not stopping.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had last week claimed that animal fat was being used to make laddus offered as ‘prasad’ by the Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirupati under the previous YSR Congress government led by Jagan Mohan Reddy. Was done. Since then YSR has been at the center of Congress attacks.

Swamy demands investigation into Naidu’s allegations

Subramanian Swamy has filed a PIL in the Supreme Court demanding investigation into the allegations of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy had filed a PIL earlier this week. He had requested the Supreme Court to direct the Andhra Pradesh government to file a detailed report on the ghee used to make laddus. He has also demanded a detailed forensic report. The state government, citing the report of a laboratory in Gujarat, had claimed that the ghee used in the laddus contained traces of beef, fish oil and charbi (pig fat).

According to the petition, “The suppliers supply various ingredients to the temple which are used in making the Prasad. There should have been an internal investigation to monitor and verify the quality or deficiency.”

Demand to investigate Subba Reddy by forming SSIT

In his petition, YV Subba Reddy has demanded to investigate these allegations by forming an SIT under a retired Supreme Court judge. Reddy has been at the forefront of his party’s defense against the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister’s claims and has repeatedly said that no adulterated ghee was used in making the laddus.

Chandrababu Naidu and Jagan Mohan Reddy came face to face on Friday over the cancellation of the YSR Congress Party chief’s proposed visit to Tirupati temple.

Chandrababu Naidu and Jagan Mohan Reddy face to face

Reddy was to visit the temple on Saturday to atone for Naidu’s “sin” of leveling adulteration allegations. However, on Friday afternoon they said that they have decided to cancel it as they have not received permission and a notice has been served. Reddy’s decision comes amid Naidu’s TDP and BJP’s demand that the former chief minister sign a declaration for non-Hindus before visiting the temple.

As per the rules of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, foreigners and non-Hindus must declare their reverence for Lord Venkateswara located in the hill temple before visiting. Signboards declaring faith in Tirumala have also been installed.

Attempt to divert attention from 100 days protest: Reddy

Reddy claimed that the laddu controversy was created to divert attention from the performance of the first 100 days of Naidu’s government. Reddy said, “All the statements given by him (Naidu) on laddus are proving to be lies one after the other. He made a mistake and violated the sanctity of the temple. I have visited Tirumala temple many times and now he is once again raising the issue of announcement to divert the topic… Tirumala Laddu is special and pure, and for a political motive he has said that it is made from animal fat. Has been made.

Naidu hit back sharply, accusing Reddy of “spreading lies” and saying no notice had been served to him. He said, “Did anyone stop you (Reddy) from leaving? If you have the notice then show it to the media… Why are you spreading lies?”
