Monsoon rains continue at many places in the country. With this, conditions are now becoming favorable for the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a low pressure area over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal around September 23. Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, coastal Andhra Pradesh.
According to the IMD, conditions are becoming favorable for the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from western Rajasthan and parts of Kutch. Cyclonic circulation of air is likely to occur in the northern Andaman Sea and its adjoining areas on Saturday. This circulation may move northwestwards. After this, due to its effect, a low pressure area is likely to form in the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal around September 23. A cyclonic circulation is also formed in north-east Rajasthan and its adjoining areas.
The Meteorological Department has said that, there is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall in some areas of the country during the next three days. Heavy rain is expected in Chhattisgarh during 23 to 26 September, in Vidarbha and eastern Madhya Pradesh during 24 to 26 September, and in western Madhya Pradesh on 25 and 26 September.
According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rainfall is expected in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Odisha, West Bengal this week. In the next five days, sporadic to moderate rainfall is expected in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Sikkim. Light rainfall is also expected in the next two days. Odisha during 22nd to 24th, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during 22nd to 26th. Hot and humid weather is expected in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya during 23rd to 26th. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura may have above normal temperatures till September 22.
Cloudy weather likely in Delhi today
The maximum temperature in the national capital Delhi on Friday was 34.7 degrees Celsius, which is normal for this season. According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature at 5:30 pm was 23.6 degrees Celsius while the humidity level was 63 percent. According to the Meteorological Department, Delhi will remain in the ‘green zone’ for the next six days and no warning will be issued. The sky is expected to remain cloudy on Saturday.
On Thursday, the city recorded a minimum temperature of 21.1 degrees Celsius, the lowest for September in 14 years. On Saturday, the minimum temperature is expected to be around 24 degrees Celsius and the maximum around 35 degrees Celsius. The air quality improved to 96, which falls in the ‘satisfactory’ category.
