“That Islam which we have missed somewhere” : A book that gives a sigh of relief to humanity

Bhiwandi is a very strong base for the Muslim community. Bhiwandi has given voice to many socio-cultural activities of Purvanchal for years. With the help of Bhiwandi and some other intellectuals, and with the inspiration of Munir Ahmed Momin, a well-known journalist and follower of the Chishti sect, a book on Islam has come out these days, which is becoming very popular. The name of the book is– “Woh Islam, Jo Hum Se Kahin Chhut Gaya.” The author of the book is retired judge Razi Ahmed Chishti, who is the incumbent Pir of the Dargah of Pashuri Sharif, Ballia. He has written this book after a lot of study and thought, and it has an open discussion on almost all the topics like personal freedom, education system, jihad, sectarianism, violence and terrorism, etc., with which the current Muslim community is struggling in some form or the other.

He says- “Sects have divided Islam. In the name of Islam, these sects have their own beliefs. These are the root of all the evils like violence. Ordinary Muslims should come out of the illusion of these sects. What is said in the Quran and Hadith is the only correct path. Islam is a philosophy of peace, harmony, brotherhood and elevating self. At its core is sadhana and thoughtfulness. Where there is a lack of these, there is no Islam.”

He says–“The capitalists of the sects are the enemies of Islam while living within Islam, and are doing the work of Satan. When it was not possible for another prophet to come and a new religion to be formed, some people divided Islam into sects on the basis of their beliefs while maintaining the claim of being Muslims. When the Caliphate turned into a kingdom, there was a need to strengthen the racial rule. For which buffer sects were used, and rules and laws were made keeping in mind the interests and objectives of the ruler.”

Razi sahab further writes– “The rulers of the kingdom and the sects also tried to ensure that the common Muslim could not understand the Quran properly. If he had understood it, it would not have been possible for any ruler to promote his personal interests. Therefore, the Quran was not allowed to come into the tongue of the people. It was said that there is no need to understand it, just recite it. The path to attain salvation was made into a talisman around the neck.”

He writes- “Allah has given everyone complete freedom to follow their own path. But these sects snatched that freedom from the people. Even though they knew that where there is no personal freedom, vision does not arise in people. Science and technology cannot progress there. The ability to think and understand does not develop in an environment of restrictions. They got separated from the teachings of the Quran. The bad effect of which was that the common Muslim, calling his troubles and misery a test, got separated from worldly progress and became dependent on other communities and their discoveries even for basic needs. Reaching a conclusion after investigation and adopting a justice-loving judicial system are two important features of the new era. Which the Muslim society should welcome with an open heart.

“It is very unfortunate that Islamic countries, whose system is based on religious rules and regulations, have no concept of freedom. There education takes place in a dictatorial environment. In which children have neither freedom nor permission to ask questions. There is no emphasis on knowing anything by thinking. The education of their madrasas is that there is no need to think. Follow what is already decided.”

Author: Retired Judge Razi Ahmed Chishti.

Razi sahab considers the use of religion for personal gain and profit as a satanic act. And he considers jihad to be a war that takes place at a time when there is a deep crisis on moral values, apart from the daily squabbles. For comparison, he says, a war fought under the circumstances and with the same intentions as Shri Krishna instructed for war in the Gita is jihad.

He says- “Allah has given everyone complete freedom to follow their own path. Therefore, no one has the right to become the judge of someone else’s religion or lifestyle, food habits, clothes or customs etc. And Jihad is not an everyday nuisance. It is a religious war that takes place when there is a deep crisis on moral values. Like it happened during the Mahabharata war. Jihad is a war fought in such circumstances.” There are many such things in chapter after chapter that make the book unforgettable. And reduce those tensions that become a cause of worry in today’s environment.
