Ahmedabad:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Ahmedabad in his home state Gujarat on Monday. Addressing a public meeting here, he fiercely targeted the opposition. He said that people started making fun of me. Modi was ridiculed. They kept giving various arguments, enjoying themselves, people were also surprised that what is Modi doing, why is he silent? So much is being made fun of, so much insult is being done, but my brothers and sisters of Gujarat, this is a son born on the land of Sardar Patel. Bearing every joke and every insult, taking a vow, I remained engaged in making policies for your welfare for 100 days. I had decided that whoever wants to make fun of me, let them do it. Let them have fun. Take it, take it… I had decided that I will not give a single reply.

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the second phase of the metro rail expansion connecting Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. He flagged off the metro train service on the new route and traveled in the metro train from Sector One station in Gandhinagar to GIFT City.

Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also accompanied Prime Minister Modi during the journey in the metro train. During the journey, Modi interacted with students and other passengers present in the metro train.

According to a government release, the first part of Phase II is 21 km long and initially includes eight new stations.

Developed by Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) in collaboration with the state and central governments, this project will expand the metro rail network. This new metro rail route will connect major places like GNLU, PDEU, GIFT City, Raison, Randeson, Dholkuwa, Infocity and Sector-1 between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.

The new phase from Motera to Sector 1 of Gandhinagar will connect important centres like Gifty City, providing convenience to professionals, students and tourists. The total project cost for phase two was Rs 5,384 crore, for which funds were raised through loans from international agencies like AFD and KfW.

The expansion of the metro rail route will reduce the travel time between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar considerably. For example, passengers will be able to travel between APMC and Gifty City in less than an hour by paying Rs 35.

Ahmedabad has two metro corridors. This expansion of metro rail has solved the connectivity problem between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.
