The Indian stock market started with a rise on Thursday. Today, on September 5, 2024, the major stock market indexes Sensex and Nifty are seeing marginal gains. The Nifty 50 index opened with a gain of 51.80 points at 25,250.50 while the benchmark BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 117 points at 82,470.35. At 9:22 am, the Sensex was up 176 points or 0.21 percent at 82,482 and the Nifty was up 38 points or 0.15 percent at 25,236.
The market trend remains positive. On the National Stock Exchange (NSE), 1774 stocks are in the green zone and 347 stocks are in the red zone. Along with largecaps, there is buying in midcap and smallcap stocks. The Nifty Midcap 100 index was at 59,483 with a gain of 265 points or 0.45 percent and the Nifty Smallcap 100 index was at 19,491 with a gain of 168 points or 0.87 percent.
UltraTech Cement, Tata Steel, ITC, Wipro, ICICI Bank, JSW Steel, Reliance, HDFC Bank, Tata Motors, IndusInd Bank and Axis Bank are the top gainers in the Sensex pack. Nestle, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, Sun Pharma, NTPC, M&M and HUL are the top losers. Auto, PSU Bank, Fin Services, Pharma, FMCG, Metal, Media and Services sector indices are in the green on the Nifty.
Energy, realty, PSU banks and PSE are trading under pressure. Asian markets are trading mixed. Tokyo, Hong Kong and Seoul are in the red. Bangkok and Jakarta are in a rally. US markets closed mixed on Wednesday.
According to Choice Broking, global markets are witnessing volatility after the release of labor market data in the US. 25,150 is an important support level for Nifty. If it breaks it, then 25,050 and 25,000 are strong supports. At the same time, 25,350, 25,400 and then 25,500 will be resistance levels at the upper levels. Indian markets closed with a decline on Wednesday due to a decline in global markets.
