Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena had ordered the election of the sixth member of the MCD Standing Committee on Thursday itself. After the meeting regarding this, MCD made it clear that elections cannot be held right now. The date and time of elections will be announced later.

Actually, out of 12 zones of MCD, BJP is in control of 7 zones. Aam Aadmi Party has 5 zones. In this way, according to one member from each zone, BJP has seven members and Aam Aadmi Party has 5 members. Six members are elected from the House for the Standing Committee. Before the Lok Sabha elections, 6 members have been elected. 3-3 members were elected from both the parties.

But Kamaljeet Sehrawat became MP by winning the Lok Sabha elections. For this reason, along with the membership of the Corporation Councilor, he also left the post of Standing Committee member. Election is to be held for this vacant post.

During the press conference, Manish Sisodia said, “There was an uproar throughout the day today regarding the Standing Committee elections. The House had to be adjourned several times. The LG wrote a letter to the commissioner that the elections should be completed immediately by 10 pm.”

Sisodia further said, “The mayor is saying that the next meeting will be held on 5th. The councilors have gone, but LG Saheb, who is sitting in America or I don’t know where, is ordering that elections be held at night. What does this mean? “

Manish Sisodia said, “What is the purpose of BJP in this whole matter? At this time, when Aam Aadmi Party councilors and Congress councilors have gone, but BJP councilors are staying there. All the MPs and officials are sitting there. This is So this is murder of the Constitution.”
