Rivian R1T and R1S EV Second Gen Unveiled with 676 KM Range

American electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian has introduced the second generation Rivian R1T EV pickup truck and Rivian R1S EV SUV. The two new models come with a lot of changes compared to their previous vehicles, including new drive systems. A new user interface and experience software platform has also been included in terms of performance. The new vehicles also offer more power and range than the previous models. The Rivian R1T starts at $69,900 (approximately Rs 58,32,424) while the Rivian R1S starts at $75,900 (approximately Rs 63,33,061). Both these models are available in the US. The new model can be ordered now. However, it is not clear whether the electric vehicles will be available outside the US.

Rivian has re-engineered the second generation EV. Both new models will come with Rivian’s self-developed dual-motor, tri-motor or quad-motor powertrains. The new R1T with quad-motor system has a capacity of 1,025HP and 1,198 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0-96 kmph in less than 2.5 seconds. The model has a new battery pack, which will have a range of 676 km on full charging.

The new Rivian R1T EV truck and R1S EV SUV target the vibrant US market and elsewhere. Truck and SUV sales in the US currently account for a large portion of new EV sales. The second generation Rivian R1T will compete with models including the Ford F-150 series and the RAM 1500 series in the market.
