New Delhi:
Traders across the country celebrated the festival of Raksha Bandhan (Raksha Bandhan 2024) with great enthusiasm. This time the festival of Raksha Bandhan was very special for the traders and the sales were at a record level compared to previous years. Like the last several years, this year too neither rakhis were purchased from China nor the goods for rakhis were imported. According to the Confederation of All India Traders, consumers flocked to the markets across the country to buy rakhis, due to which all the records of rakhi sales of previous years were broken.
CAIT said that during the festival of Raksha Bandhan, the trade of Rakhis has been estimated to be around Rs 12 thousand crores. Along with this, the business of sweets, gift items and goods like clothes etc. for gifting was also estimated to be around Rs 5 thousand crores.
These rakhis were the center of special attraction
Sisters of Prajapita Brahmakumari Ishwari Sangathan went to the residence of CAIT’s National General Secretary and Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal and tied Rakhi on his wrist. Khandelwal and CAT’s National President BC Bharatia said that this year ‘Tricolor Rakhi’ and ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ Rakhis were the center of special attraction. Along with this, Kosa Rakhi from Chhattisgarh, Jute Rakhi from Kolkata, Silk Rakhi from Mumbai, Khadi Rakhi from Nagpur, Sanganeri Art Rakhi from Jaipur, Seed Rakhi from Pune, Woolen Rakhi from Satna in Madhya Pradesh, Bamboo Rakhi made from tribal items in Jharkhand, Tea Leaf Rakhi from Assam, Dates Rakhi from Kerala, Pearl Rakhi from Kanpur, Banarasi Cloth Rakhi from Varanasi, Madhubani and Maithili Art Rakhi from Bihar, Soft Stone Rakhi from Pondicherry, Flower Rakhi from Bengaluru etc. are also included.
