‘Promise of Ram Mandir and 370 fulfilled, now…’: Law Minister reveals Modi 3.0 agenda to NDTV

New Delhi:

Modi Government 3.0 has completed 100 days. On this occasion, Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal had a special conversation with NDTV. He said that today is a very important day. Firstly, 100 days of PM Modi’s third term have been completed, secondly, today is Vishwakarma Jayanti, thirdly, today is our Prime Minister’s birthday and fourthly, today is also a full moon day, so such a pleasant coincidence is happening today.

While referring to the implementation of the new criminal law from July 1, 2024, the Law Minister said that the 100 days of this government have been a very important period. The Indian Justice Code, Indian Civil Protection Code and Indian Evidence Act, which were our colonial era IPC and CrPC Evidence Act, have been replaced by the Indian Evidence Act. He said that apart from this, whether it is the matter of judicial appointment in our Law and Justice Department, the matter of appointment of all the judges in the Supreme Court, whether it is the matter of Nyay Bandhu Legal Services in NALSA Salsa, whether it is the matter of making our notary online and giving digital certificates, there are many such cases, due to which we feel that this period of 100 days has been unprecedented for the Law and Justice Department.

The amendment that has come in the Waqf Bill, the representations of the people of the Muslim community who were victims, from the Waqf Board, from the law were coming again and again that there should be an amendment in it. On this basis, an amendment has been made in it and when the amendment came in it, the people of the opposition, I also look after parliamentary affairs, at that time they said that we want to discuss it. Apart from the discussion at the time of introduction, there was a discussion for about two-three hours. Then this demand came from the opposition that it should be sent to the committee, so a joint committee of the Parliament was formed, whose chairman was Jagdambika Pal and he is conducting his hearing, so I think that the people who are doing encroachment in it, who have occupied the lands, the same people are opposing it. Otherwise, the spirit with which the Waqf Bill has come, this is a beneficial bill for poor Muslims.

Regarding ‘One Nation, One Election’, the Law Minister said that a committee was formed under the chairmanship of former President Ram Nath Kovind, which has submitted its report to the President. A study is also going on on this. This is also mentioned in the agenda and resolution letter of the Bharatiya Janata Party. We are also discussing this with our NDA colleagues. Let me tell you that the tenure of Modi 3.0 will definitely come in this tenure, there is no doubt about it.

Arjun Ram Medhwal said about the Uniform Civil Code that since the Jansangh era, we had three agendas – Ram Mandir, Article 370 and Uniform Civil Code, and when the Bharatiya Janata Party was formed on 6 April 1980, it was also on our agenda. A grand temple of Lord Shri Ram was built, Article 370 was abolished and now work is also going on on the third agenda. Discussions are also going on with our allies in the NDA. Right now, it is a mandate with the Law Commission of India and then the states have also worked fast on it. Acts have come regarding it in Uttarakhand. It is already implemented in Goa, some other states are also thinking in this direction. Right now the Prime Minister has also given indications of this from the ramparts of the Red Fort, so assume that we will definitely move forward in this direction.

After the incident at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College, Mamata Banerjee’s government wrote a letter to the Centre to hide its failure under the guise of amendments. There is a Union List in the Constitution, the Central Government has the right to make laws for it. There is a State List, a Concurrent List. They have just tried to cover up the incident by making laws. It should be in accordance with the Constitution. It is investigated at the Governor’s office, then it is also investigated at the President’s office. Whatever is found to be in accordance with the Constitution is approved, whatever is not in accordance with it is not approved.

Regarding the Haryana elections, Meghwal said that I have been going to Haryana every day for the last 20-25 days. The Bharatiya Janata Party is strongly in the election field. The work done by the BJP in the last 10 years is good governance and development. Our agenda has started moving fast. The Bharatiya Janata Party is going to form a strong government in Haryana.
