NDTV Yuva Conclave: Bansuri Swaraj told what beautiful thing she inherited from her mother, why was she given a unique name?

New Delhi:

BJP Lok Sabha MP from New Delhi and daughter of late Sushma Swaraj, Bansuri Swaraj has appealed to today’s generation (Gen Z) to learn their mother tongue along with English and promote it. In the fifth edition of NDTV’s Yuva Conclave on Thursday, Bansuri Swaraj spoke openly about her family, her profession and political career. During this, Bansuri also told an anecdote about her unique name. Bansuri says, “I have inherited the devotion of Lord Krishna from my mother. Wherever I am today, it is because of the grace of Lord Krishna.”

Bansuri Swaraj said, “I had asked my mother about my name. My mother Sushma Swaraj told me that you have been named after the most beloved thing of Shri Krishna. I think this was the most beautiful answer.”

“I did not join politics because of my mother…” : Bansuri Swaraj also recalled her internship with NDTV

Bansuri says, “Of course when I was in school, people used to make fun of my name. Someone used to say that if I had a brother, would he be named Tabla? These things did not matter to me. I am really thankful to my mother and father for giving me such a unique name.”

Sanskrit auspicious symbol
On the question of taking oath as a Lok Sabha MP in Sanskrit, Bansuri said, “It is very important for today’s generation to connect with the language. It is not just about Hindi or Sanskrit. It is important to connect with your mother tongue.

Bansuri says, “My mother also took oath in Sanskrit. But my intention was not to copy her. Rather, in our Indian culture, Sanskrit is a symbol of auspiciousness. Whenever you start anything in your life, you recite a shloka in Sanskrit for it. I felt that I am going to the temple of democracy and making a new beginning in my life, so I should do it in Sanskrit.”

Fearlessness, hard work and…: Bansuri Swaraj told what big lesson she learnt from her mother Sushma Swaraj?

Returning to India was decided from the very beginning
Bansuri Swaraj, who entered politics from being a lawyer, said, “I am very lucky that I got the opportunity to serve the country by joining BJP. As far as studying at Oxford University is concerned, it was a very good experience. But one thing was clear to me from the very first day that I have to return to my country. I am the only child of my parents. That is why I did not want to leave them and live abroad. I knew that I had come to Oxford only for studies. I have to go back to my home. I have to make my livelihood and life in my country India only.”

Bansuri said, “No one has the right to consider a woman inferior to a man. There is no work that we girls cannot do. Whatever you do, give your best in it.”

It feels good to be in court
BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj says, “Of course I have joined politics, but I love my profession very much. I have been associated with this profession for 17 years. I like my work very much. I like being in the court. In a way, studying law gave me permission to present myself the way I am. Perhaps politics has helped me understand what I am doing in law.”

Bansuri says, “Only 4 percent of the members in the 18th Lok Sabha are lawyers by profession. I appeal to the young generation to make law their profession and contest elections one day.”

Like her mother Sushma Swaraj, Bansuri Swaraj took oath as MP in Sanskrit
