Shajapur (Madhya Pradesh):
Police have arrested one person in connection with the death of one person and injuries to seven others in a dispute between two groups in Maksi town of Shajapur district of Madhya Pradesh. Officials gave this information on Thursday. He said that an FIR has been registered against 10 people in connection with the clash. The clash took place around 9.30 pm on Wednesday night, in which members of both the groups threw stones and opened fire.
Shajapur District Magistrate said in a statement that the violence was the result of a clash between two groups on Monday. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) at Maksi police station in connection with the September 23 incident.
Police said that a person named Anees Khan has been arrested while others are absconding. Clashes broke out again between the two groups near Nagarpati Hanuman Temple on Wednesday night. They pelted stones and used firearms during the clash.
FIR registered against 10 people
The police officer said that an FIR has been registered against 10 people including Kalu Patel, Mahendra Patel, Arun Patel, Sumit Patel, Rahul Jain. The officer said that a case has been registered on the basis of the complaint of the brother of deceased Amjad Khan.
The officer said that Kalu Patel and Rahul Jain are accused of firing bullets at Khan, who died due to the bullet. During the violence on Wednesday, Amjad Khan along with Iqbal Khan, Arbaaz, Junaid Khan, Arzaan Khan, Rihan Khan were injured and admitted to the hospital. He told that Amjad Khan later died.
Police forces deployed in large numbers in the town
Shajapur District Magistrate Riju Bafna and Superintendent of Police (SP) Yashpal Singh Rajput are currently camping in Maksi to monitor the situation. According to a statement, a large number of police forces have been deployed to maintain law and order in the town. The situation is peaceful at present.
Taking cognizance of the incident, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday night sought information about the situation from the Divisional Commissioner and Inspector General of Police of Ujjain Range.
The Chief Minister also directed the administration to provide proper medical facilities to the injured.
Officials said that to maintain peace in the town, prohibitory order has been imposed under BNS Section 163 in Maksi town.
War of words between BJP and Congress
Condemning the incident, Madhya Pradesh Congress Media Division President Mukesh Nayak told reporters that the incident was the result of a dispute that took place during the BJP’s membership campaign. A person named Sameer Meo was beaten up by some youths after an argument.
However, refuting the allegations, BJP’s Madhya Pradesh unit spokesperson Pankaj Chaturvedi claimed that the dispute had started between two persons. He said that Congress is unnecessarily giving it a communal color due to its appeasement policy.
Chaturvedi said, ‘Congress will never succeed in its plans because the government deals with such matters very strictly.’
