Delhi government increased the minimum wage, know who will get how much wages

The Aam Aadmi Party government of Delhi has decided to increase the minimum wage. The government has increased the minimum wage for unskilled labourers to Rs 18,066 per month. Earlier it was Rs 17,494. Semi-skilled labourers will now get at least Rs 19,929 per month. Currently its limit was Rs 19,279. The minimum wage for skilled workers has been increased from Rs 21,215 to Rs 21,917.

Let us tell you that the minimum wage rate for unskilled workers in India varies across states and union territories. However, the national minimum wage for unskilled workers is around Rs 178 per day or Rs 5,340 per month. The minimum wage rate has been continuously increased from time to time by the Delhi government.

What is the minimum wage?
Minimum wage is the minimum amount that an employer has to legally pay to any of his employees. In a way, it is the wage limit, below which no employee can be paid. In India, it is fixed from time to time by the state governments. Its purpose is that all employees should get at least a fixed amount, no matter what work they are engaged in. In India, minimum wages are determined under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948. Under this Act, the Central Government and State Governments determine different minimum wages for different sectors.

Delhi has the highest minimum wage
In India, the Union Territories of Delhi and Kerala have the highest minimum wages. The minimum monthly wage for unskilled workers in Delhi was Rs 17,494 earlier, which has now been increased. At the national level, the minimum wage is around Rs 178 per day.
