The bidding for Pakistan’s nationwide airline has been delayed to Oct 31, a spokesperson for the privatization ministry mentioned on Tuesday.

A Pakistani parliamentary committee of privatization had earlier been knowledgeable that Pakistan Worldwide Airways (PIA) would go below the hammer on Tuesday.

The spokesperson mentioned the bidding will now happen on Oct 31 and the date has been accredited by the ministry.

Two officers on the ministry had earlier informed Reuters that bidding was delayed as a result of the bidders had needed extra time to judge phrases and circumstances for the public sale.

Six events have been pre-qualified for the bidding, which included Fly Jinnah, Airblue Ltd, a consortium led by Pak Ethanol (Pvt) Ltd, a consortium led by YB Holdings (Pvt) Ltd, Arif Habib Company Ltd and Blue World Metropolis.

Pakistan’s authorities has beforehand mentioned it could promote between 51-100 per cent of the loss-making airline as a part of reforms urged by the Worldwide Financial Fund (IMF).
