The Kenya Electricity Transmission Company has awarded a public-private partnership concession to the Adani Group and Africa50, a unit of the African Development Bank, to build high-voltage power lines, Bloomberg reported on Sunday.
Citing a post on x by David Ndai, chairman of President William Ruto’s economic advisory council, Bloomberg said the two entities are hiring their project teams. The transmission line is estimated to cost $1.3 billion, which the Kenyan government does not have to borrow.
Apart from this, Adani Energy Solutions has shown interest in looking into the operation of the Gigil-Theka Mala power line under Ketraco, Citizen Digital reported, citing a Bloomberg report. The proposal is still under consideration.
