Adani Group discusses with Bombardier for partnership in defense, aviation and MRO services sector

New Delhi:

Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, met with Eric Martel, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bombardier Inc., to explore partnerships focused on the defense sector as well as aviation services, maintenance, repair and overhaul.

Gautam Adani expressed excitement about the discussions, outlining the possibilities of synergy in a post on micro-blogging website X (formerly Twitter). He wrote in his post, “Together we are using synergy for a strong and self-reliant India…”

India is now trying to reduce its dependence on foreign MRO services, which have generally posed challenges for airlines such as high operational costs and time consumption. Gautam Adani stressed the need to develop a strong domestic MRO ecosystem.

Recent initiatives by the central government are aimed at promoting this growth. Last month, Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu announced that the domestic MRO market could double to US$4 billion in the next seven years. A uniform 5% GST has been imposed on aircraft parts and other components to encourage local services.

Adani Defence & Aerospace, a subsidiary of the Adani Group, is making significant progress in the defence and aviation sectors. According to the company’s website, it is committed to enhancing India’s military capabilities by implementing globally advanced defence, aerospace and security solutions. Their goal is to facilitate India’s development as a hub of world-class and high-tech defence manufacturing in line with the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.

Bombardier, a well-known company in the global aviation landscape, has special expertise in aircraft design and manufacturing. Known for its ‘Challenger’ and ‘Global’ aircraft, the company has built a reputation for innovation and reliability, and its products are widely used in both civil and military operations. The company also has experience in developing solutions for special-mission roles.
