The hatchback segment may be shrinking but carmakers are still looking to boost sales of these relatively affordable models during the 2024 festive season. At the moment, carmakers like Maruti, Toyota, Tata and MG Motors are offering the greatest discounts and benefits on their hatchback portfolio.

Toyota Glanza
Save up to Rs 68,000
The Toyota Glanza has total benefits worth up to Rs 68,000 for now, depending on inventory. The maximum discounts are available on variants with the 90hp, 1.2-litre petrol engine, which comes paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. The Glanza is also available in 77hp CNG form, though these two variants do not get any benefits this month. Toyota’s premium hatchback, which is essentially a rebadged-Maruti Baleno, is currently priced between Rs 6.86 lakh and Rs 10.00 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Tata Tiago, Tiago EV
Save up to Rs 65,000
The Tiago hatchback is available in all-electric, petrol and petrol-CNG form. The Tiago EV has discounts up to Rs 50,000 on the XT long-range variant, but there’s an additional benefits worth Rs 15,000 to be availed on MY2023 stock. Higher-spec LR variants (with the 24kWh battery that has an MIDC-rated 275km of range) have up to Rs 25,000 and Rs 40,000 off, while the MR variants (powered by the 19.2kWh battery with up to 221km of range) get a Rs 10,000 discount. The MG Comet EV rival is priced between Rs 7.99 lakh and 11.89 lakh.
The petrol and petrol-CNG variants of Tata’s most affordable model have benefits worth up to Rs 60,000, including a cash discount, exchange/scrappage benefits and a corporate discount. Priced from Rs 5.00 lakh-8.75 lakh, the Tiago is available with an 86hp 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine, which also runs on CNG (73hp). Both get manual and AMT options.
MG Comet
Save up to Rs 60,000
The MG Comet EV, which recently got a subscription plan that brings the starting ex-showroom price down to Rs 4.99 lakh, gets total benefits worth Rs 60,000. This includes a cash discount, an exchange bonus and loyalty bonus. The small electric hatchback and rival to the Tata Tiago EV comes with a 17.3kWh battery, which was rated under MIDC’s older norms to provide 230km of range. Available in three trims, the Comet is currently priced between Rs 6.99 lakh and Rs 9.53 lakh.
Maruti Suzuki WagonR
Save up to Rs 53,100
Both the 67hp, 1.0-litre and 90hp, 1.2-litre versions of the Wagon R with the AMT gearbox are available with benefits up to Rs 53,100. Discounts on the manual variants go up to Rs 48,100, while CNG trims (57hp) get discounts to the tune of Rs 43,100. Maruti’s tall-boy hatch rivals the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Tiago, and costs Rs 5.55 lakh-7.21 lakh.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno
Save up to Rs 52,100
As mentioned above, the Maruti Baleno and Toyota Glanza are badge-engineered siblings, and as such share the same engine and the same gearbox options. Benefits on the popular premium hatchback, which rivals the Toyota Altroz and Hyundai i20, are available up to Rs 52,100. The maximum discounts are for the AMT-equipped variants, while the manual and the CNG-powered variants have up to Rs 47,100 and 37,100, respectively. The Maruti Baleno’s price currently stands between Rs 6.66 lakh and Rs 9.83 lakh.
