Maharashtra Pollution Control Board has issued a notice to Mercedes Benz’s Chakan plant for violating environmental rules. The company has been given 15 days to respond to this notice. This notice states that the company is not following pollution control rules. Let us tell you that the sub-divisional officers of Maharashtra Pollution Control Board had inspected Mercedes Benz’s Chakan plant. Many pollution rules were found to be violated in this.

About a month ago, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board Chairman Siddesh Kadam had also inspected the plant. Board Chairman, Siddesh Kadam had come to Pune on 23 August for a program. He had made a surprise inspection of Mercedes-Benz’s project in Chakan along with the board officials and employees.

Answer to be given within 15 days

Regional officer of Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, Jagannath Salunkhe said that the sub-divisional officers of Maharashtra Pollution Control Board had inspected the Chakan plant of Mercedes Benz. Several pollution rules were found to be violated in it. Therefore, a notice has been issued to the company and it has been asked to respond within 15 days.

Pollution board officials visited and inspected the company’s plant on August 23 and September 4. The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board checks whether companies are following environmental norms or not.

The notice states that the company is not following pollution control rules. Clarifiers and centrifuge units are not working in the sewage treatment plant. Apart from this, the instructions to install emission control devices for diesel engines have also not been followed. The sewage treatment plant is not operated and maintained properly.

Mercedes Benz India says on this matter that the company has received a notice from the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board. The issues mentioned in this notice will be studied and a reply will be given. Our aim is to cooperate with government agencies.
