Giusy Buscemi is set to star in a new and ambitious TV project on Rai 1: a fiction series about the life of the renowned Italian poet Giacomo Leopardi.

This new series follows in the footsteps of previous productions dedicated to great poets who have made their mark on history with their unforgettable verses. A recent example is the series about Alda Merini, which aired last season on Rai 1. However, this latest project is shaping up to be even more ambitious, promising to bring to life the story of one of literature’s most iconic figures, Giacomo Leopardi. From the initial images, it appears that Rai 1 is investing in a series that is not to be missed.

The two-part miniseries, directed by Sergio Rubini, will air soon, with filming having wrapped up in March. One of the cast members, Christian Caccamo, shared several photos from the set on Instagram. The production took place in various locations, including Marche, Naples, Rome, and Turin. Leonardo Maltese will portray the titular role of Giacomo Leopardi, while the stunning Giusy Buscemi will play his beloved, Fanny Targioni Tozzetti. The cast also includes Valentina Cervi and Alessandro Preziosi.

The costumes and settings are reminiscent of Netflix’s hit series “Bridgerton,” known for its lavish period style. Caccamo himself commented on the resemblance in a social media post, drawing parallels to the drama that captivated audiences with the release of its third season in June. He wrote, “It’s a miniseries made of love… I hope you fall in love with this story as much as I did! It brought me new friends and a director I’ll never part with.” These words accompanied several behind-the-scenes glimpses from the past months.

“Leopardi: The Poet of the Infinite” will premiere as an event film out of competition at the Venice Film Festival. Giusy Buscemi, who is also preparing for the return of “One Step from Heaven” and “Vanilla” on Channel 5, shines in this new and captivating role.
